Lonely Winter

The days meld together one after another,

Rushing by like a river in a winter storm.

Pulled along despite swimming upstream,

Reality whips the rain back and forth.

Beyond the falls, the water will be calm,

After the rains, the land is refreshed.

All of nature cycles and revives again,

I await the time spring turns to summer.

The Island

1,000 voices sing me to sleep as I bask in your warmth,

The present opens up into all the possibilities of forever,

Each moment a delightful eternity of affection and love.

Ocean salt on my lover’s skin, fruit nectar on our lips,

Hair softened and drying from the warm, lovely rain.

Our bodies glow from adventuring and exploration.

Your bounty enriches the rich and the poor alike.

Such as shame to leave this paradise in your arms-

I treasure the experience and can’t wait to return.

Love

With 1,000 pounds of pleasant, your touch stills my body.

Your love envelops me like a warm, fragrant breeze,

Held safe in the strength of your arms, I brush your lips.

Our kiss sets the stars on fire, lighting up the world.

Just when...

Just when you think the skies will be blue,
When the sun should shine bright anew,
Just when you think the seas will be still,
The running is flat, and then there’s a hill.

The stormclouds clap, as they gather above,
Suddenly life turns to push and shove,
Just when you think “oh if, only IF!”
You can recognize change for the gift it is.

Climb that hill, and get back to the run,
Knowing that life will not always be fun,
Ride the waves, be washed by the rain,
The sun always returns, blue skies again.

Blues

Sing, harmonize with my soul.
Like a warm, cleansing breeze,
Like a wave breaking over me,
Throw me a line with your voice,
And draw the poison sadness out,
So the sun may shine after the rain.

Perpetually Broken Heart

Rock breaks rock, wind and water corrode the land,
The babe tears from the mother, with a cry of demand.
Diamonds cut glass, and mountains grind to dust,
The mother trudges through the pain because she must.

The hand that feeds is bitten beneath baleful eyes,
Why from the mother’s love does hatred arise?
Irritating sand in the clam becomes the pearl,
So is the hope for my abrasive little girl.

Spring Storm

The waves crash onto the shore, eating away the land,

The tide high in the storm, ever decreasing sand,
The wind whips to and fro, the birds tumble in the air,
My home is by the shore, but the ocean doesn’t care.

My heart tries to beat within the tightness of my chest,
My face full of heat, my eyes tired for lack of rest,
The tears boil up, waging battle with my will,
I try to hold them back, but a few escape still.

Is this a spring zephyr, one that will come and go?
Or is it the Never, pounding doubt upon my soul?
Should I ignore the wind, or should I run and hide?
Is there shelter here within, against this rising tide?

Hope peaks through the clouds, then doused by the rain.
Hope, come back around, so Strength can rule again.
Oh tears will make it worse; no need to add to the storm,
My fears- my personal curse; keep me from getting warm.

Dark Skye

Skies are dark but the wind is strong,

Blind eyes look upon what’s wrong,

The little eyes look up, ever up,

But only judgment fills their cup

Will it ever end, will it ever be right?

Will the darkness lighten up, stop being night?

The wind blows cold and history repeats

Through the darkness the same eyes seek

The water is murky, it’s never clear,

Shivering and wonder what I’m doing here,

Standing before those judging eyes,

Level now with no disguise

Will it ever end, will it ever be right?

Will the darkness lighten up, stop being night?

The wind blows cold and history repeats

Through the darkness the same eyes seek

Same place, on a different day,

Little eyes look up my way,

What to do? The decision is mine,

To be nourishing or to be unkind

Will it ever end, will it ever be right?

Will the darkness lighten up, stop being night?

The wind blows cold and history repeats

The decision is mine- the cycle ends with me.

Oh Love is a wild storm

Powerful and Humbling
It’ll knock down your walls
It’ll blow you away…

Love leaves some torn
Yet others empowered
A reminder of all you have
And all there is to lose.

Never know when it’ll form
Never know when it’ll die.
No telling what it’ll do
If it will even survive.

It appears and you choose
To run and take cover,
Or be engulfed despite the risk-
And fully live the experience.
